Foam Glass (ASTM Standard)

Cellular glass, its main composite is glass mixed with foam agent, produced through high temperature foaming and annealling, is a new type of inorganic thermal insulation material composed by thousands of tiny uniform hermetically sealed glass cells. The features are: low density, low thermal conductivity, vapor-tight, waterproof, non-combustible, mouldproof, pest proof, high mechanical strength but easy to process and anti chemical corrosion except hydrofluoric acid and etc. It contains no ozone depleting propellants, flame resistant additives or binders, without VOC or other volatile substances.

Cellular glass is composed by hermetically sealed glass cells, with excellent vapor-tight, it cannot penetrate through by vaporous water or other gases.


Cellular glass is environmentally-friendly inorganic product, processing with no hazardous additive, contains no ozone depleting propellants, with out VOC or other volatile substances, can be recycled and reused, is no damage soil or underground water.

5. Vermin, pest and botany proof

Cellular glass is inorganic no basis for nesting, breeding, also it's rat bite proof, plant roots cannot pierced this product.

6.Stable chemical property

It remains the chemical stability property of glass such as:oil-resisting, alkali-resisting, organic solvents resisting, and resist to almost all the acids. No destruction from aggressive mediums or atmospheres.

7.High compressive strength

cellular glass has high compressive strength even with long-term loads due to its cell geometry

8.Dimensionally stable

Cellular glass has low expansion coefficient, comparable to steel and concrete. It neither shrinks nor swells under temperature cycling, no warping, buckling or creep.

9.Easy to Process

Cellular glass is easy to cut, shape, install at site, and it can be perfabricated according to design. With simple tools like saw blade or hand saw, it can be cut to any desired shape.

10.Excellent acoustical coefficient

Due to structure of thousands tiny uniform hermetically sealed cells, it has strong absorption for sound wave, effectively reduce the noise.

11. Wide service temperature

Cellular glass service temperature range from -268°C to 480°C, meeting the thermal insualtion requierment in construction and industry.

12.Perfect insulation property

Cellular glass have low thermal conductivty, it preserves permanent insulation performance.

Product Applications

It's commonly applied in insulation projects such as: tank and tank base, pipeline, vessel, equipment, cryogenic ship, etc, for petroleum, chemical, refrigeration, underground projects, shipbuilding, national defense and residential construction industries.  It can can be applied in severe environment like: low & cryorgenic / hot temperature, underground, outdoors, flammable, wet, and chemical etc. 

Packing and Storage

①Using foam paper to separate each product, carton as outer packing, special requirement is available according to request.

②During transportation, cartons should keep tightly closed, stacks keeps upright to protect from collision, reinforcement can be applied if necessary.

③Store in weatherproofing, dry and ventilated environment.

Application and Considerations

①Cellular glass is fragile, shall not place heavy goods on top, no more than 6 layers stack is preferred, shall be handled gently, avoid rolling or collision;

②Strap cellular glass segments by stainless steel band when applied in pipe/equipment insulation;

③During construction, if needs it can be cut to shape by saw.
